This article describes how to quickly load text files from your Mac directly into the TelepaText text editing app, a helpful tool for research, productivity, business, education, news, students, teachers. While TelepaText supports iCloud text documents as well, the iTunes File Sharing feature provides a separate means of moving text documents in and out of the app, especially useful if you are working with folders or collections of documents.
TelepaText has a highly customizable text-to-speech System that lets you listen to your text documents. We use this to listen to our technical and brainstorming development notes, documentation pages, news articles, Wikipedia articles, song lyrics, webpage text, and more. The speech customization provides detailed control over the pacing and voices used for text-to-speech.
Connect your iPhone, iPad, or IPod touch to your Mac with the USB cable. After a moment, the device will be available in the iTunes app on the Mac. In the top left of the iTunes window there is a small button with an icon of the device. Tap this and the device view will appear in the left column.
Tap File Sharing in the left column of the Device view and the File Sharing view will appear. Apps on the device that support iTunes File Sharing are displayed here. Find the TelepaText app in the app listing and select it to view the TelepaText Documents listing.
Use drag and drop to move text documents or folders of text documents from the Mac to the TelepaText Documents listing in iTunes. Documents and folders can also be dragged from the iTunes TelepaText Documents listing back to the Mac. In either direction, the documents are copied.
One can also tap the Add... button at the bottom of the TelepaText Documents listing to add documents from the Mac.
Local documents in the TelepaText app on the device can also be deleted in the iTunes > File Sharing > TelepaText Documents listing; simply select the document or folder and tap Delete on the keyboard.
In the document listing view in TelepaText, the Documents (local) directory is at the end of the iCloud documents listing. If one is not using the iCloud in TelepaText, then the main document listing will directly display the local Documents directory.
